WE ARE HERE TO HELP!
Capitola Police Department’s
V.I.P.S.
Volunteers In Police Service |
Capitola’s Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) help the Capitola Police perform their mission by providing non-law enforcement services throughout Capitola. You may have seen VIPS patrolling neighborhoods in the black and white all-electric car, which is perfect for that kind of job. We are committed to patrolling each of the neighborhoods in Capitola at least once each week to help keep our streets and neighborhoods safe and free from abandoned vehicles, as well as checking on homes at the request of owners/renters who are out of town, working, or who have called the Capitola Police Department with non-law enforcement concerns about their neighborhood. We also help the Capitola Police in providing services for the elderly, disabled, shut-ins and residents who are concerned about family members or friends who wander and may become lost. If you have family or friends who live in Capitola and would like the VIPS to periodically check in with them, please let us know. We are at your service!
WE CAN PROVIDE HELP WITH:
- ELDERLY/DISABLED/SHUT-IN /WANDERER CHECKS
- ABANDONED VEHICLE REPORTS
If you want to take advantage of VIPS services, please contact the Capitola Police Department at 831.475.4242. There are forms for Home Checks and Elderly/Disabled/Shut-in/Wanderer notification available for download on the City of Capitola’s website at http://ci.capitola.ca.us - click the Police link at the top of the home page and scroll down.
Please ask us about this great community program! If you see a uniformed volunteer in your neighborhood, please give us a wave and say hello to us. We want to know our neighbors!
All information will be kept confidential within the Capitola Police Department. |
