Our Accomplishments

Since October 30, 2005 the Foundation has helped sponsor and fund the following
programs, activities and initiatives thought the Capitola community:

  • Annual Capitola Rod and Custom Classic Car Show, featuring over 350 Custom Cars & Hot Rods
  • Annual Capitola Public Safety Foundation Golf Tournament & Fund Raiser
  • Elder Care Task Force – multi agency task force, which focuses on elder abuse, emergency preparedness and other issues affecting safety and quality of life for seniors, to include Financial Abuse of Seniors Training for bank employees
  • Emergency Preparedness Programs for Elder Capitola Residents and other at-Risk residents.  Purchased and distributed over 700 emergency preparedness kits and File for Life packets to At-Risk Seniors
  • Coordinated acquisition and distribution of over 500+ smoke alarms and "Files for Life" kits for elderly clients via through a grant with the Central Fire Protection District
  • Funded the Police Department’s Volunteer’s in Policing (VIP) Program to purchase equipment, vehicles, uniforms, training, etc.
  • Helped fund Department’s Community Emergency Response Training (CERT), uniforms and equipment purchases.
  • Helped purchase an electric GEM car for use by the VIP’s and at Special Events, to include applying for a $8,000 grant from the Monterey Bay Air Quality Control Board
  • Neighborhood Watch Programs and Public Safety Initiatives, hundreds of Children DNA Kits for distribution at meetings.
  • Funded after school and athletic programs at Capitola's New Brighton Middle School for baseball, soccer, basketball, football and cheer leaders.
  • Sponsored Santa Cruz "Crushers" Girls Softball Team since 2008.
  • Juvenile Outreach Programs, After School, Police Cadet and Youth Grants, At-Risk Youth Adventure program at Soquel High School.
  • Capitola Lifeguard Program, training, equipment, supplies.
  • State of the Art Emergency Lights and Siren for the Department’s new Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
  • Public Safety Equipment for Police Officers, to include new Tasers for all officers
  • Canine Program and the purchase of a two new canines and specialized canine training.
  • Assisted with Donation of 6 Automated Electronic Defibrillators (AED’s) from Valley Medical Foundation.
  • Assisted with the Funding and Construction of the City’s Esplanade Stage Project
  • Helped fund the Police Department's Merchant Alert Program, Community Outreach Center and hundreds of DNA/Fingerprint Kits/Photos for Children at the Mall, Merchant and school events.
  • Helped fund uniforms and equipment for after school sports teams and cheer leaders.
  • Funded scholarships for the Capitola Junior Guard Program 2008 & 2009, 2010 & 2011.
  • Helped fund National Night Out Event & Barbeque for last 6 years; helped publish & distribute Crime Prevention Materials, fund children's activities, funded games  & crafts for families and children; funded barbeque for over 500 people , funded Climbing Wall, etc.
  • Helped acquire and retro-fit the Department’s Prisoner Transport Vehicle, which was donated to the City by the Aptos La Selva Fire Department
  • Purchased 30 new Glock pistols, barrel mounted flashlights and level 3 holsters for the Police Department.
  • Contributed $3,000 to the City of Capitola’s 60th Birthday Celebration
  • Contributed a total of $9,000 to the Santa Cruz SPCA in 2008, 2009 & 2010 for assistance to the Police Department and citizens of Capitola
  • Contributed $2,500 to Advocacy Inc., to help purchase new computer to track domestic violence clients and other support services.
  • Provided Scholarship to police personnel to participate in or attend training courses.
  • Provided over $27,000 to the Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce for services rendered - assistance in helping coordinate & plan Foundation events such as: the Capitola Rod and Custom Classic Car show and Annual Golf Tournament since 2006.
  • Provided funding for police training and supplies not covered by the City. 
  • Sponsored C.O.R.E. activities such as the Schralpfest, surfing competitions, etc.
  • Sponsored Bicycle Rodeos, equipment purchases, car seats, and Bicycle Safety Training.
  • Sponsored Junior Guard Program and helped fund scholarship program for needy children since 2006.
  • Helped acquire and refurbish two new Lifeguard Towers.
